Battleborn Will Remain Online, Last Update This Fall

Battleborn’s next update will be the last as creative director Randy Varnell wrote that there is no planned content after the upcoming fall update.

“As of this week, there will be no more Battleplans and there is currently no planned content after the Fall Update,” wrote Randy Varnell. “Details of any future changes or news will be made on our forums or through social media, so keep your radars on.”

Varnell says that servers will still be active and running for now. Gearbox Software released its hero shooter around the same time as Blizzard’s hugely successful Overwatch. While the latter continues to break record sales, the former has largely been considered a failure.

The developers tried reducing the price of Battleborn by half on the same day when Overwatch was launched, and yet they couldn’t get the kind of traction that they were hoping for. It’s not that the game is bad, it’s just that no one really cares about it.
