Be The Road Warrior With Avalanche Studios’ Mad Max

Mad Max: Fury Road re-introduces the world of Mad Max to the younger generation of movie-goers. Now, Avalanche Studios is hoping to do the same to younger gaming generation with the post-apocalypse open world of the Mad Max video game.

And capture the essence is what Avalanche Studios did with the game as the sensation of death and despair is beautifully captured and showcased a world that has gone mad. From combat sequences to level designs, Mad Max exudes the anarchic post-apocalyptic open world of the film into consoles.

Of course, when it comes to Mad Max, we can’t leave out his car fittingly named the Magnum Opus. For this game, Avalanche Studios made sure that when you’re crafting your Magnum Opus ride, you’ll have fun doing it and driving it. From capturing the roar of a V8 engine perfectly to putting intricate details to your 4 wheels of doom, the developer made sure to pay attention to the vehicles as much as the main protagonist.

Studio Sound Director Magnus Lindberg explained that “In the wastelands, it’s not about engine models anymore.”  The team went as far as to strip the cars down and rebuild the vehicles plenty of times to capture different sizes of engine blocks of different vehicles. Lindberg continues, “We lifted out engines, put them on a work bench and drilled them until they exploded. Boom! Just to get the engine right, the sound of it!”

And it doesn’t stop with just the sound. Vehicular combat is just as every bit as brutal and furious as you would expect from Mad Max. Ramming into cars, turbo boosting into stray cars and destroying enemy vehicles with the trusty shotgun and harpoon attack is satisfyingly destructive.

With that level of attention to detail, it’s no surprise that Avalanche Studios’ attempt to translate the frenetic wheel-on-bone action of the game will be felt by gamers once they get their hands on the game.

Mad Max Vehicle Combat

The ability to explore the vast open-world where you can tackle missions, scavenge for items, find new landmarks and even raid and eliminate enemy camps, there’s plenty to do in the gorgeous desert wastelands.

Mad Max is scheduled for release on September 1, 2015 and will come to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
