Don’t Bite Down On These Golden Chicken Nuggets From McDonald’s Japan

McDonald’s has always hyped up their chicken nuggets as delectable golden pieces that you can savor, but not literally. McDonald’s Japan, on the hand, seems to take that seriously and produced an 18K gold nugget that they are giving away.

That and a pack of golden fries.

As part of their marketing campaign for the new character Kaito Nuggets and new promotional nugget sauces, McDonald lovers are encouraged to catch the chicken nugget snatcher for a chance to win a piece of the golden nuggets.

The nugget weighs in at about 50g (1.8 ounces) and is estimated at $1,500 per piece and the campaign is set to run until June 28, to promote the two new nugget sauces—”creamy cheddar cheese” and “fruits curry sauce”.

At the same time, McDonald’s Japan is also running a separate campaign to give away one solid 18K gold fry that weighs at 50g—the rest of the fries are just painted gold.

McDonald's Golden Fry

To win the golden fry, you’ll need to download an app that overlays a red fry packet over the shot. Take a picture with a creative twist on fries by replacing it with something that is yellow and stringy and tweet out the picture with the hashtag #ポテ撮り (potetori, which means to take pictures of potatoes.)
