Have A Blast(er) In Star Wars With The Battlefront Open Beta

“In a galaxy, far, far away,” Well, it doesn’t have to be that far anymore because the Star Wars: Battlefront beta is finally open to the public! Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC owners can grab the open beta from their respective platforms of choice and start blasting troopers and rebels alike.

EA and DICE are ramping up the hype for the full release of Star Wars: Battlefront and they could not have done any better than with the open beta that’s currently available, and will run until 10th of October. The beta, which also serves as a demo, gives players a chance to step into the gorgeous world of Star Wars that DICE have created using the Frostbite Engine.

When it comes to gameplay, DICE has got it covered. With their pedigree for creating the mechanics for the Battlefield series, the action is fast, furious, and fun. But, what really stands out from the Star Wars: Battlefront beta is how immersive of a Star Wars experience that they’ve created. The Frostbite Engine beautifully renders the icy tundra of Planet Hoth with the sounds of blasters (which is an authentic reproduction straight from the movies’ SFX) whizzing through, it makes for a compelling Star Wars gameplay experience.

However, since it’s only a beta/demo, there are only three modes available to play when you load up the game. The first is a quick PvE horde mode called “Survival Mode”, where you survive waves and waves of enemies as you defend a pod. The second is an 8v8 skirmish called “Drop Zone”, which is basically Battlefront‘s version of zone control. The real fun is when you get into the Planet Hoth battle, which is basically an all-out war with 40 players trying to either defend or attack the AT-ATs. Trust us when we say, it’s the best part of the beta!

Star Wars: Battlefront beta is available for download until 10th October, and will weigh about 8GB for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. PC will need at least 11GB of space to download the open beta. Good luck and “May the force be with you”.
