Helen Chiang Takes The Helm Of Minecraft

Minecraft has set a new record in December 2017 with 74 million monthly active users. The game has sold over 144 million copies across all platforms to date.

Helen Chiang was contacted by Popsugar’s Chelsea Hassler few days ago, and the newly appointed head of Minecraft, revealed that her main goal is to continue building Minecraft‘s community.

We just recently set a new record in December for monthly active users, so now we’re at 74 million monthly active users — and that’s really a testament to people coming back to the game, whether it’s through the game updates or bringing in new players from across the world. That’s really our goal, to keep building the community that we have.

Chiang wanted to bring the community together, regardless of what platforms players are playing on. The “Better Together Update” is one of the cross-play features that Minecraft had implemented in September 2017, and it was the company’s initial step towards bringing all the players together.

This great feature allows players to play Minecraft through its unique multiplayer option where players on various platforms such as Xbox, mobile, VR and PC can game together. Sharing contents from one device to another was also made easier through its enhanced marketplace in the “Better Together Update”.
