Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

Overview

The Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a popular multiplayer game that is a sequel to the more popular edition of the Lara Croft franchise game, the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

Returning back to the isometric and perspective template that was set on the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, right after seeing the personality of Lara shine through, the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a great reminder of an energetic adventure by means of visually impressive locations as well as dangerous and puzzle filled ruins that is what the series is all about.

The story is light and puzzle heavy that is almost essential to Lara’s excursions in a third person perspective.

There is probably one thing that is missing from this version of Lara Croft – its personality. The high angle isometric perspective might work well in terms of portraying the large sections of the visually distinct temples as well as properly framing the brain bending puzzles.

However, even when engaging into a rare banter with the rest of her co-op allies, the iconic heroine adventurer will not show anything that resembles an emotion or a face of vulnerability while we watch her exploring the beautiful and dangerous environments coming from afar.

Just like the original adventure of Lara Croft, the combat within the Temple of Osiris largely exists in order to fill the gaps in between puzzles. Although there is a level of excitement which would require testing every new gun while you find them, including magic staff, machine gun pistols, rocket launcher and high powered rifle.

Luckily enough, the obstacles that were placed in Lara’s path on Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris have more than made up for the average gun play. The pacing of the puzzles all throughout the six hour adventure is definitely the key to winning this game.

As you begin with each of the nine tombs, you will be given an introduction in a core puzzle type, whether it is the one that reflects the orb destroying beam coming from the staff of Osiris, the lighting torches which provide power to the gates, or perhaps, finding the proper path through the spike laden grounds which escalate quickly to become a truly tricky trial right at the end of the excavation.

Aside from the stages that you will have to go through all throughout the campaign, you will also find five Challenge Tombs and each of these tombs will feature a puzzle that is even tougher than the mandatory stuff.

Game Description

The Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is the sequel to the popular and award winning role playing game, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

On this new adventure however, you will find Lara Croft traveling to Egypt joining forces with a rival treasure hunter known as Carter Bell as well as the imprisoned gods named as Isis and Horus, in a fight to defeat Set, the evil god.

The game features a four player co op story, where players will have to work altogether in exploring the temples, defeating the hordes of enemies coming from the Egyptian underworld, and solving devious puzzles while avoiding deadly traps.

And all the while, the players will be seen competing for treasure, powerful artifacts, as well as ultimate bragging rights.

It has been said that Lara Croft from the Legend Timeline, right after being away in the previous game episodes, will be seen returning in this game, together with the confirmation reports about Keeley Hawes planning to bring back her role as Lara Croft. The Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is set to be released in the gaming market this December.

• Much better co op game.

• It has a seemingly lightweight story.
• It has outdated visuals.

Verdict

The real treasure in the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is not really Lara’s story, but it is solving the complex and various environmental puzzles along with your groups of friends.

Playing the game alone will take you to discover the various flavors of each of the new temples and then figuring out the best solution to the brain busting puzzles.

It is truly satisfying, especially since it will allow you to meet a lot of interesting characters such as the bipedal alligator warriors.

What is really impressive is how the puzzles of the game scale to a scope when you are playing them all by yourself or along with a party of up to four people. Moreover, you also get to discover a bounty of gems as you go through the game.

Playing the game with others will double the satisfaction since Crystal Dynamics, the developer of the game, has renewed the challenges and added a lot of new creative twists on the previously conquered obstacles that will require a lot of teamwork to be overcome.

The only real problem of the game is that Osiris so great at braiding the simple pieces back together which will take a while for you to notice that none of the individual parts of the game are actually first rate. The combat is fun enough especially if the remote mines are exploding and the physics will be kicking in.

However, it is built in a foundation of weightless weaponry and the same enemies. The puzzles meanwhile were streamlined far beyond the ones in the Guardian, a kind of game that offers one temple, for instance, in which you will find eight boulders to fit into eight recesses.

While you fanned out through all the directions, you will discover that there was indeed a challenge into the process of getting each one of them.

All in all, the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is truly a welcome throwback.
