Mafia 3 Sold 4.5 Million Copies To Retailers In A Week
Mafia 3 has sold more than 4.5 million copies to retailers in its first week of release – the fastest-selling game according to 2K Games. The developers took a huge gamble by making the game’s protagonist ‘Lincoln Clay’ a biracial man to represent the experience of being a black man in the 1960s South and the risk paid off. Take Two Interactive announced that Mafia III has sold more copies than their other franchise such as Borderlands, BioShock and even NBA 2K in a week.
About Mafia 3
It’s 1968 and after years of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home in New Bordeaux, Lincoln is set on escaping a criminal past. But when his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through those responsible.
Intense gun fights, visceral hand-to-hand combat, white knuckle driving and street smarts will all be needed. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city’s underworld.
Take-Two and Hanger 13′s crime game is available on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One for $59.99.
