Metal Gear Survive Won’t Be Playable Without Internet Connection

Konami’s Metal Gear Survive is just a month away before its release and the company revealed that the upcoming co-op action game requires a constant connectivity to the internet in order to play the game, even for single-player.

To add salt to the wound, Metal Gear Survive will introduce microtransaction and players can spend real money in exchange for coins. Konami did not provide any info on how much the coins will cost.

There will not be loot boxes, and there will not be Pay-to-Win types of microtransactions. There will be things like the accessories in Metal Gear Online, and Forward Operating Base in MGSV: The Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Survive‘s online connectivity requirements were built to support a seamless integration between single player and co-op. This will also enable us to provide ongoing content post-launch.

Brand Manager Jennifer Tsang said that the single player campaign will last at least 15-20 hours, depending on your gameplaying. In addition, Metal Gear Survive’s beta starts on January 18 and will end on January 22. Beta participants will receive in-game items such as name plate, head accessory, and a bandana.

The game will officially launch for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on February 20.
