PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Developer Will Fix AFK Farming

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds developer Bluehole is preparing to deal with players who intentionally idles in-game to earn currency or in other terms, AFK farming.

At recent PAX West, producer Chang-Han Kim stated the team knows about the AFK farming issue and they have plans to tackle the problem soon, although he confessed that he wasn’t sure of the solution at the moment.

“We know that the portion of players that are AFKing.. isn’t that high as of now, but we do want to create a tool or vehicles to prevent players from just trying to earn BP [Battle Points] and not playing the game.” says Kim. “It could be us just adjusting the balance of BPs being earnt after each game or just from a structure point of view, preventing AFKs as a whole. We haven’t full decided on a direction for that yet.”

AFK farming, is basically players who joins a match but do not actually play, allowing their characters to die while they accumulate in-game currency just by being in the game. This permits the idlers to purchase things to sell on the marketplace without putting in the hours of playtime like everyone else does and this hampers the experience of real players.
