R2-D2 Actor Kenny Baker Passes Away At 81

The actor who portrays R2-D2 has recently passed away at the age of 81, after a long battle with an illness, as reported by the Guardian on Saturday.

Known famously for playing R2-D2 in Star Wars: A New Hope, the British actor has since been in six Star Wars movie as the iconic droid. Despite his ailing health, Baker still continues to be part of the Star Wars family by being a consultant for The Force Awakens and even managed to attend the European red carpet of the film’s release.

While Baker will not be part of the Star Wars universe anymore, his legacy will still continue on with R2-D2. We extend our deepest condolences to Baker’s family on their loss.
