Selfies Could Be The Way To Pay Amazon In The Future

If the patent application that was picked up by Re/Code is to be believed, Amazon might start using selfies as a payment when you’re shopping with the online retailer. Looks like you might have to put your selfie look on when you shop at Amazon.

The idea behind facial recognition purchases is to help deter hackers accessibility by eliminating the need for password-based login/confirmation. The patent also shows that you need to perform an action to confirm the facial recognition. Otherwise, people could just take pictures of you and use that to make purchases.

While we doubt this technology would be implemented anytime soon, it’s definitely a unique approach to digital security for the online retailer shop.
