The Sims 4

Overview

The Sims 4 is one of the most popular life simulation games ever created. On this game, players will create a Sim character and will then explore several different personalities and situations in this world. The Sims, just like humans, can multitask.

They can talk while doing certain tasks and their moodlets will change the overall game play. For instance, the Sim can perform a task while feeling angry or excited.

With the Sims 4, you can expect several detailed build and buy systems and furniture as well as various neighborhoods and incredible landscaping. It also comes with various social features, like importing Sims as well as houses that other people have created to your game. This can certainly impact the world that you build around your Sims.

Playing the game is like playing a dollhouse in your computer. If you prefer to build a house but not deal with a lot of details, you can take advantage of those prearranged rooms which you can fit together just like playing a Tetris game.

If you are someone who loves arts and architecture, not to mention interior design, then you will certainly love this game.

The Sims 4 is available in a single player mode and it does not require that you have regular Internet connection in order to be able to play.

However, players will need to create an Origin account and must have an access to the Internet at the initial installation stage in order for the game to activate.

Game Description

As stated, The Sims 4 is a life simulation game in a computer and was developed in 2014 by the EA Maxis as well as the Sims Studio. The game was published by Electronic Arts and was originally announced to be released to the market in May of 2013. In September 2, 2014, the Microsoft Windows Edition for the Sims 4 was released while the release date for the Mac version has not been confirmed yet.

There have been no plans for any console to be released as of yet.
Basically, The Sims 4 is pretty much similar to The Sims 3, its predecessor. Here, players get to control their Sims in doing a lot of activities and to create relationships with each other. Just like the rest of the series, the game does not have any clearly defined goal and the game play is often non linear.

The game also includes create and build mode, with tools that allow players to redesign and create their own Sims world. This allows for versatility in creating the gaming content which makes the game to become even more interesting.

The emotional state also plays an important role in the game play of The Sims 4 as compared to the previous series of the games. In this edition, there will be more emotional effects on the social interaction, the character personality, as well as the user interface.

When the Sims 4 was released, Electronic Arts have come up with a lot of promotions to advertise the game. This includes producing headphones, computer mouse which would light up according to the emotional state of the Sim character, a mouse pad that features the rendering of several Sim groups, and many more.

There was also a demo that was released which displays the Create a Sim partition of the game and was offered for free to everyone.

Pros

The Sims 4 has received lots of positive feedback when it was released in the market. According to game critics, the game is remarkably more intuitive as compared to the previous Sims games that were released. In fact, game critics believe that this game is smarter than its predecessors due to the various emotions involved and the ability to multitask.

The buy and build mode of the game shares the same interface which makes it easier for players to combine creation and decoration instead of forcing players to approach each activity as two opposing sides. Furthermore, stretching and dragging the walls is now easier.

For as long as you know how to use the mouse and the keyboard, then you can certainly manage it well. The Sims 4 is also praised for providing the right tools and objects that the players will need.

Cons

There are also some drawbacks that come with this latest edition of The Sims game. For one, it lacks the content that you can find on the previous games, like the dishwashers. Other players also complain about some annoying glitches. There is also a lack of engagement and lack of social activities and that you will be bombarded with tutorial messages that seem annoying.

Game critics have also criticized the game for some of the minor technical issues that could affect the overall quality of the game.

Verdict

Your enjoyment of The Sims 4 will merely be based on the style and your level of patience. If you love the kind of game that starts from nothing, you’ll enjoy this game as you build your Sims world all the way through. There are also challenges like dealing with a lot of mood swings. If these things excite you, then this game is definitely for you.

However, fans of the previous Sims games might not really feel satisfied with this game. They might enjoy the game at the start, but they might eventually find it dull and boring soon after for it lacks the whimsical abilities and the silliness that other Sim games have. Nevertheless, the game is definitely worth checking out if you are an avid fan of Sims.

The new multitasking system and the excellent visual design are things that make The Sims 4 to stand out from its predecessors. The improved personalities and emotions, as well as the unusual activities such as traveling to space somehow help to make the game even more interesting.

The game is also easy to play with the kids and those young at heart will certainly enjoy the simplicity that this game brings. So despite of its weaknesses and flaws, The Sims 4 is still a game that is definitely worth checking out.
