This Is How Virtual Reality Will Be Integrated Into Facebook

Virtual Reality is all the rave for tech enthusiasts and none is more excited than Facebook, as evident with their purchase of the Oculus for $2 billion back in 2014.

Now that the Oculus Rift is out, we’ve finally got a glimpse of how Facebook will integrate virtual reality into the social media platform.

Marketing Land uploaded the video above and it shows Facebook chief technical officer Mike Schroepfer showcasing ideas in which how VR could be implemented into Facebook to share and socialize with friends online.

Of course, Facebook did not offer any timeline on when we could be VR-ing with friends and take VR selfies but given the barrier of entry for VR at the moment, it’ll probably take some time before all this becomes (pardon the pun) a reality.

The Oculus Rift is available now for $599 while the more premium HTC Vive runs about $799. If you’re looking for a more affordable entry to VR, PlayStation VR will cost you about $399.
