Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 Is Out In All Of Its Glitchy Glory

When Tony Hawk Pro Skater first came out in 1999 on Playstation 1, the game was a massive hit among gamers and skate fans alike. The massive popularity of series led to spawn multiple sequels that declined in quality with each release. Hoping to get back to the roots of what made Tony Hawk Pro Skater a success, the recently released Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 was to be a return to glory for the fledgling series.

Unfortunately, based on early insights from gaming sites such Destructoid and Eurogamer, Tony Hawk Pro Skater looks like it still has a long way to go.

Available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 did not make any bold claim of being the prettiest game, and for fans of the series, it wasn’t a problem since THPS was always about the gameplay. The problem is, the game is ridden with bugs and glitches, it makes the game near unplayable at times.

We probably should have noticed the red flags about Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5‘s incomplete state when a 7.7GB update was prompted when you boot the game. It’s even more alarming when you realize that the game install size is only 4.6GB! This makes the update 165% percent larger than the actual game itself.

And if that’s not enough, Eurogamer managed to get some gameplay footage that shows the major glitches players will encounter. Do note that the footage comes from a total of 60 minutes worth of gameplay. Yep, all that glitch within the first 60 minutes of the game AFTER the update patch.

What’s even upsetting is the fact that Activision is charging the game for a full $60 on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and pricing it $39.99 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. If you are some of the fans that was waiting for the return of Tony Hawk Pro Skater back to its glory days, well, you might want to wait a little longer because Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is not that game.

If you feel like playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater, we recommend picking up the older titles or if you feel like playing indie games, pick up OlliOlli2 on the Playstation Network instead.
