Ubisoft To Open The First Major Gaming Studio In The Philippines

The Philippines will be jumping into the South East Asian gaming development scene in a big way when the company behind major hits such as Tom Clancy’s:The Division and Assassin’s Creed franchise will be opening its door in 2016.

Ubisoft Phillippines

The studio will be based in Santa Rosa Laguna, 24 miles south of Manila in the suburbs. This is the second Ubisoft studio in South East Asia, the first being in Singapore, and also marks the 30th studio in the French publisher’s growing list of studios.

Olivier de Rotalier, managing director for Ubisoft Singapore, China, and now the Philippines commented on how Ubisoft intends to find talent from the Philippines.

“We will work with a local university to grow talent the industry needs,” says de Rotalier. “We’ll be crafting the right curriculum, helping students and projects, to quickly grow the next generation of game developers.”

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Naval Gameplay

Ubisoft propping another studio in South East Asia shouldn’t come as a surprise considering how their Singapore branch has been successfully contributing to major Ubisoft franchises, with one of the most notable contributions being the naval warfare gameplay in Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

If you live in South East Asia and have dreams of joining a major publisher, it’s good to know that Ubisoft will be there scouting talents in the future.
