Witcher 3’s Hearts of Stone Expansion Will Pull You Back To The Continent

Have you finished Witcher 3? No? Tough luck, because CD Projekt Red has already unveiled the next expansion for Witcher 3 and it’s coming on October 13th. If you somehow managed to play through the entirety of the Witcher 3, then you can expect plenty of new content to bring you back.

The first of two major story expansion, Hearts of Stone will be CD Projekt Red’s biggest expansion to Witcher 3 so far. Previous DLCs (which have been free) and updates were usually minor add-ons such a quest or two and some new gear. This expansion, however, is expected to come with “over 10 hours of new adventures”. Given the huge content that’s already available in Witcher 3, another 10 hours will be enough for most gamers.

To give a taste of what’s to come, CD Projekt Red released a teaser trailer. Check out the embedded video below.

Seems like Geralt has gotten himself into another predicament. With CD Projekt Red’s track record, we can expect plenty of awesome dialogues and monster bounties in the upcoming expansion. A more detailed outline of what to expect from Hearts of Stone was explained on the Witcher’s official site, stating that the game will introduce “new characters, powerful monsters, unique romance, and a brand new storyline shaped by gamer choices.”

They also note that a new system called Runewords will be coming as well, teasing that the Runewords will “impact a different aspect of in-game mechanics and will allow the players to experiment with various strategies and tactics.”

The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone

But of course, it isn’t CD Projekt Red is they didn’t go above and beyond of what’s expected from a developer. Along with the digital release of Hearts of Stone, CD Projekt Red has decided to produce a limited run of a boxed edition of Hearts of Stone. What makes this so special is that it will come with two beautifully crafted Gwent card decks with a manual for the card game itself.

Gwent, Witcher’s in-game version of a Trading Card Game, have been quite a hit with fans and have been in-demand for a physical version. Looks like CD Projekt Red is delivering on that demand, albeit on a limited supply. The limited edition box set will be available in select stores worldwide and will cost $19.90.

The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone expansion is set for release on October 13th and will come to Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC.
