The Frostbound: The Fields

As soon as you enter this area you will be approached by a sorceress. She informs you that she failed to defeat the Frost Worm and to make matters worse, she lost control of her Ice Golems. You now burden the task of defeating the Worm and her Ice Golems, but your reward is an enchanted ring. Goody.

Save and rotate your mini map so that the warp point is north. This area has two levels for you to explore and gain XP. Explore the level you start on first before going up a hill and travelling onward. The Ice Barbarians don't do much damage to you and neither do the Ice Golems. This stage is more laid back from what you were facing earlier, which is a good relief. From the warp point, head east until you bump into a wall. Go north from here to encounter your very first Ice Golem which was hibernating. Now would be a good time to use your Firey items to ensure a fast and easy kill. If you continue hugging the right wall, you'll end up at a dead end with some goodies. Once collected, backtrack down to the first golem you killed and head south east this time. There'll be another Ice Golem for you to frag. After you defeat it, head west until you reach another Ice Golem. This Ice Golem should be south of your starting point.

From where the Ice Golem was once standing, go west first. At the end of this path is another Ice Golem for you to defeat. Backtrack to the Ice Golem you defeated earlier and head south now. This is another long one way path that leads to more goodies and another Ice Golem. This is also the path to the second level. Hopefully, you collected everything you needed so you don't have to go back.

Facing south, move east. You'll encounter two Ice Golems nearby one another. Once you've defeated them, continue on hugging the east wall. Eventually you'll meet yet another Ice Golem. If you're struggling with life and magic by now, fear not. A Fountain of Mystic Will is to the left of the Ice Golem you just killed and a Fountain of Health is just a short travel to the north. After you've healed up, backtrack to the ramp that led to this second level and travel west now.

Another Ice Golem is hibernating right before you start travelling north. And not far of a walk, you face another Ice Golem. Keep on heading up north until you reach a corner. Again there'll be two Ice Golems nearby one another. If you're running low on Firey items by now, you might want to isolate one from the other. Head east after you've defeated these two to almost finish this level.

Well, almost. You'll have to face three more Ice Golems in your way. The last one should be residing east of your exit, which is guarded by an Enchanted Barbarian. After you destroyed all the Ice Golems, continue hugging the east wall. This narrow path leads down to a Soul Shard. After you've completed this area, you can finally move on.

The Frostbound: Barbarian Fort

This area is much shorter than the last one. Again, another breather. Kinda makes you wonder if this is making up for a harder level coming up? Anyways... Save and enter the fort while hacking the barbarians apart. As soon as you climb the stairs, hug the right wall untilyou see the hole in the ground with a ladder. It leads to a secret area with a Soul Shard. Once you come back out, go straight until hit a wall. Go left for another secret area.

Once you've looted their goods, head to the hole's left. It's a slug fest between you and some barbarians and a Fountain of Mystic Will. In order to climb the central platform, find the rear. The stairwells is hiding back here. Once you've cleared this platform, there are two more holes that lead to secret areas. The one on the east holds the Cask of Winters, a quest item. If you need to regenerate your HP, a Fountain of Health is stationed at the east. Once you're all healed up and ready to go, find the corridor leading up north between the two staircases.

The Frostbound: Mountain Pass

This area is a lot bigger and the Ice Golems you faced not too long ago make a comeback. This time, you don't have to kill them all to advance. From the start, you'll have to travel north. There is a locked gate in front of you with a lever. This is one of five levers you have to pull to unlock the door. Either head west or east--there are two levers on both sides.

Once the door opens you'll continue your journey travelling north. You'll come along a split soon that leads to all directions. The east and west paths lead to more goodies and enemies for XP, but if you don't have keys, it might be a lost cause. When you keep going north you'll pass this building and descend down the stairs. An Ice Golem is waiting for you as well as a warp point.

Continue north until you reach another building. There are four swithces in each corner. Once they've been hit, go west. You'll enter another building and an Ice Barbarian waiting for you. Defeat it and hit the two switches here. If you follow the perimeter of the buildling, they can be easily seen. Head down from here to toggle the last lever. Backtrack to the building with the four switches and head east now.

It's similar to the west path--descend some stairs, enter a building and prepare to kill. This time there is only one lever in this building. Head south from here to flip the last three levers before venturing onward past the once locked gate. Save before you do though--as soon as you enter this area, you'll automatically be forced in combat and the game prevents you from saving.

Boss: The Frost Worm

If you've been saving up on Globe Potions, good for you. If you didn't, don't worry about it. They don't do as much as your Raise Dead Amulets. The Worm has four holes to dig into and pop out from. When it digs into the ground, larvae spawn out. They are not life-threatening, but they can get annoying with their mini bites. As soon as the Frost Worm emerges, it can spit an ice ball attack that does not home in but does major damage, or it can unleash a ring of coldness that knocks you back. The most dangerous attack it can perform is if it sprays out a wave of frost that not only knocks your character back, but takes off arms and legs of your character if get caught. Use the Globe Potions when it emergest from the ground and use your Berserk Brews to ensure it dies before you run out of Raise Dead Amulets.

Before you start on your next level, return the Cask of Winters for a reward. Not bad, eh? Sell anything you don't need to Lidda before moving on. By the way, if you have crappy armor or no armor at all, now's a good time to buy.

Bone Necropolis: Lower Graveyard

As soon as you enter this area, run to your right to save. Instead of the weaker versions that you fought in the Crypt, these Skeletons will give a run for your life. The Archer Skeletons keep launching arrows at you at a fast pace--if you're surrounded by them you will take major damage. The Skeletons with shields are extremely annoying. They can block your regular melee attack while their undead buddies hack you to bits. The third type of Skeleton just wields a sword and nothing else--the easiest ones to deal with. The Skeletons are truly "dead" if you see the spirit fly up. If the Skeletons just get knocked down, be prepared to deal with them again.

From the warp point, go up north up a small flight of stairs. A lever is nearby for you to flip. Now hug the right wall and go up north. Yes, you will face lots of Skeletons that can take up a lot of your HP and time, which makes you understand why now the ice stage was pretty easy. Eventually you'll hit your second lever if you followed the wall. Run west through a break of stairs a little bit up north.

Run straight across down the staircase until you see a stone path. Follow it until you see another switch nearby, surrounded by some coffins. By now you probably raised a whole family of Skeletons after you. Run back down to where you started to shake them off your tail. Hopefully after clearing some enemies your life will be easier. Head west from the start point and hug the wall going up north until you see stairs. Climb it and then hug the very left wall. A lever is at the lower left corner for you to hit, the fourth of the fifth levers. To find the last one, just hug the left wall again and then go up until you reach the end.

After all five levers have been pulled, be prepared to fight an enchanted Skeleton. It's a bit bigger than the ones you were facing, which isn't a good sign. If you cleared out the other Skeleteons earlier, it'll be less back-up for it and you'll have an easier time killing it.

Bone Necropolis: Upper Graveyard

Save!!! Do you wanna go through that hellish nightmare again? You'll keep facing Skeletons here and a new foe--Osyluths. Yes they are meaner than the Skeletons but they don't hold up any shields--which means you can take out all your hacking and slashing needs at it. In the center of this area lies some statues that shoot out yellow sparks. Touch'em and say goodbye to your Mystic Will as well as your life points.

Follow the stone path north until you see a temple on your hero's left. Go through the door to enter Nerull's Temple. In here you'll face many creatures in tight quarters. If you get cornered, free yourself as soon as possible.

After you retrieved the first medallion, get the heck out. From the entrance, run straight ahead of you, passing that other temple, until you hit the wall. Hug the wall until you can see the stone path again. Once you can, enter this temple. Another medallion is waiting for you to pick up. Kill everything you see, pick up the medallion, but don't leave yet. Go through the door in the back to find a secret area underneath the floor. You'll face many Osyluths here but your reward is a Soul Shard. Get back out to the stone path once you've completed your business.

Travel north and west by following the stone path. Run past the statue on your hero's right (when running left) until the second path leading north. In this temple, return the Horned Skull to complete another quest. Exit this temple and then head south. Another temple stands in your way. Enter it to find out that it holds the last medallion.

Exit the temple and go south east toward the yellow sparks. Each of the four statues have a switch nearby them to shut them off. If you're being pursued by hordes and hordes of creatures, kill'em first before approaching the statues. The temple surrounded by the four statues has an Orb and a Bell for you to collect. Once these two are in your possession, head up straight north into another fenced burial ground to pick up your second Orb. Now you can place both Orbs in the statue up north to enter your next area.

Bone Necropolis: Bone Temple

This area is rather simple. Save first and then head up north. You'll run into your newest enemy--the Flaming Skeletons. The same rule applies--if you don't see their spirit fly away, they ain't dead. Take more precautions when dealing with them. They do more damage than their normal counterparts. When you see the locked gate in front of you, head east first. You'll hack and slash more enemies before you reach a pressure plate.

The pressure plate can be reached by walking up the ramp. Before you step on it you should consider checking out the very south wall. A hidden door leads to a secret area with a Soul Shard. After this side has been stepped on, do the same for the other side. There is also another secret area with both Fountains to replenish your energy before moving on.

Past the gate is a pedestal for you to use the Bell you found earlier. This can be achieved by simply touching it.

Bone Necropolis: Bone Bridge

The architecture who built this bridge obviously can't build very straight. From here, you have to twist your way around traps and enemies. The traps are toggled by the ground you step on. Either a knife lunges out toward you or the grounds/wall come out at you. There are many crates for you to smash so be sure that you keep only the items you need. You'll encounter both the Fountain of Mystic Will and the Fountain of Health along your path to keep you healthy.

There is a warp ponit at the half way point of this level and another warp point near the end. Before you enter the path that leads to the Lich's Lair, go west into that fork. The save point as well as a Soul Shard waits for you.

Bone Necropolis: Lich's Lair

Before you fight the boss, you have to deal with his cronies. Head straight into the blood fountain and kill the Blood Golems. Keep going up north until you can see paths that lead to the east and west. They are nothing more but enemies and crates for you. To face the Lich now simply head north.

Boss: The Lich

The Lich not only looks disgusting, its attacks are as well. If you get too close to it, it'll push you back with its spinning circle of swords. When this happens, his health meter becomes gold, indicating his invulnerability. If you're distant away from the Lich, it'll cast a homing sword spell attack or cast a slow spell on you. If you see the Lich rise up and air glows green, a series of poisonous clouds will shoot up from the ground. This can be avoided by moving away from it. One of the more annoying attacks the Lich has is its ability to cast the Globe spell. The Lich also has the ability to raise a group of Skeletons to attack you. Use your Berserk Brews after the Lich's Glove is gone. Keep hacking at it and use your healing items until it falls apart.

After your victory, you'll have to face Kaeden, but not for awhile. Once back at the portals, the Cleric who raised you informs you that you can harness the gems' powers. By selecting your Ancestral Weapon, you can hold the R button and select the gem to use. Before you chase Kaeden, talk to the Taarian, sell any unnecessary items and move on.

Here is a description of the gems:
Ice Gem: Does ice damage and can freeze an enemy.
Fire Gem: Does fire damage.
Nature Gem: Can poison an enemy.
Wind Gem: Twirls an enemy once hit.
Death Gem: Sucks life from enemies and gives it to you.
