2016 Release Confirmed For Final Fantasy XV

Looks like JRPG fans can look forward to 2016 as Square Enix has given an official announcement for Final Fantasy XV‘s release, through the Square Enix official blog. Looks like we’ll be seeing Noctis and friends a lot sooner than expected.

Final Fantasy 15 2016

In a post by the director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata wrote a short and simple message wishing a new year to fans of the franchise and a straightforward statement about Final Fantasy XV‘s release. It’s been long hinted that a 2016 release was likely for the long-gestating Final Fantasy XV, but to have Tabata come out and confirmed its release shows Square Enix’s confidence with the development progress of the game.

On the blog itself, Tabata wrote the following:

“We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phrases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phrases will focus on effort and willpower.”

He continued, “I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft. We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure.”

Final Fantasy XV Battle System

Originally titled as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy XV underwent a long development period and big changes from its original Playstation 3 title release, as part of the Fabula Nova Crstallis subseries. The re-branding of the title happened in 2013 where Square Enix made the official announcement of it being Final Fantasy XV and a current generation release for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

While 2016 has only just begun, gamers can already look forward to another year of exciting games ahead. For more news on Final Fantasy XV, check back with OffGamers!
