Cobalt, The Minecraft Creators Next Game Has Been Delayed

Mojang, the studio behind the ever-growing Minecraft, has announced that their next game Cobalt has been delayed until February 2016. Originally slated for an October 30th release, fans of the studio will just have to wait a little bit longer before getting their hands on the new title from the Minecraft developer.

The announcement came from a blog post on their official website. Mojang clarified that in order to meet expectations for the game’s launch on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Steam, they needed more time to polish the game. Below is an excerpt from the blog post itself:

“We’ve been working on Cobalt for a long time and, though the game is feature complete, our current build is buggier than we’re comfortable with. We want every part of Cobalt – the campaign, challenges, and local and online multiplayer to live up to your expectations, no matter which platform you play it on. That’s going to require a bit more development time.”

Mojang, in collaboration with Oxeye Games, had been working on the game since 2011 with the original launch date being in 2013. However, the game had since been delayed numerous times due to Mojang porting the game to Xbox One and Xbox 360 with the latest date, originally slated to be 30th October.

Even though Cobalt won’t be coming anytime soon, the people at Mojang are probably not too worried about the delay, what with Minecraft still in the hivemind of gamers due to the recent patches and the recently released Minecraft: Story Mode by Telltale Games. With Microsoft buying Mojang and the Minecraft brand last year, there’s plenty of support for Mojang to continue developing Cobalt until it’s fully ready.

Cobalt is coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Steam. Currently, it is scheduled for release on February 2016. If you need a fix of Mojang, you can play their other game, Minecraft, for the time being. Pick up the Minecraft game card at OffGamers today if you don’t have the game!
