Dark Souls 3 Will Descent To Japan On March 24th

Japanese fans can prepare themselves for the horror that is Dark Souls 3 as Bandai Namco and From Software have officially announced the release date for Dark Souls 3 in Japan. Making its way east on March 24th, 2016 for Playstation 4 and Xbox one, the release of Dark Souls 3 certainly matched their predicted “early 2016” schedule.

The third iteration of punishingly hard action-adventure series, Dark Souls 3 looks to be as every bit as crushingly difficult as its predecessors. Retailing for 7,430 Yen for physical copies and 6,930 Yen for digital (plus taxes for both), limited copies of the retail version will also include a special map and soundtrack for the game.

Playstation 4 fans will get an extra treat as Sony and From Software will be conducting a network test for the game on October 16-18 for Japanese gamers. If you can read Japanese, you can head over here to sign-up for the network and possibly get some early hands-on for the game. But be quick, registration for the network testing closes on October 4th at midnight JST!

As for the PC release, Gematsu reports that a date shall be announced “in the coming days.” Unfortunately, no dates were announced for the western release yet. Though given that the series tends to be released simultaneously, it wouldn’t be a surprise for the western release to be on the same date, or within close approximation to each other.

Dark Souls 3 is meant to bring “certain story elements to a conclusion” for the series, as noted by Bandai Namco, but reassures fans that this will not be the last game of the series. A recent trademark for “Slashy Souls” indicates that Bandai Namco is looking ahead to find the next iteration of the Souls series.

Dark Souls 3 is coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Japan release date is scheduled for March 24th with the PC and western release dates to be announced soon.
