Doom Officially Confirmed For Release On May 13
Leave it to Bethesda to give another surprise release for gamers. This time, it’s the gorefest shooter DOOM that will be making its quick release with a May 13th launch on all platforms. Better get that BFG ready Marines!
The announcement came from a new trailer for the fourth DOOM game, which features all the gore and brutality that you would expect from a DOOM game. In the trailer, fans were treated to a barrage of visceral first-person shooting with hell beasts, a one-eyed demon, and of course, skeletons with jetpacks and lasers.
DOOM was long in development until Bethesda ramped up the media blitz for DOOM when they showcased the game during last year’s E3 conference. Meant as a return to form for the franchise, DOOM reestablishes itself as a genre-defining franchise with plenty of big guns and gruesome demons to shoot at.
If you’re a diehard fan of DOOM and want the complete experience, Bethesda also revealed the DOOM Collector’s Edition, available for preorder. The Collector’s Edition will come with an “exclusive 12′ statue on an LED-lit base with internal slow-spinning turbine” and an “exclusive metal case.”
The DOOM Collector’s Edition will cost $120 but preordering either the Collector’s Edition or the standard edition will give you the preorder bonus Demon Multiplayer Pack. The pack comes with a three skin variation demon armor set, six paint colors, and three exclusive id Software patterns that you can equip to your armor and weapons. Six one-time consumable items called “Hack Module” will also be available for players to use in multiplayer to gain a competitive edge.
DOOM will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 13th.
