Hearthstone’s Limited Time Co-Op Mode Is Here

Have you always wanted to share your addiction love of Hearthstone with someone? Or maybe you just feel like Hearthstone could be more fun if you could team up with a friend to battle enemies? Well, now’s the time to do both of those things because Blizzard is giving players a chance to play the limited time co-op mode.

The co-op is only available in the Tavern Brawl mode, which features a new match type that pits two players against A.I. enemy in a battle of card supremacy. The actual game mode itself is called Unite Against Mechazoid whereby two players are teamed up to fight against a Mechagnome.

Here’s a breakdown from Blizzard on what to expect from the co-op battle:

“Combine forces to defeat Gearmaster Mechazod. You’ll each be piloting a pre-built deck assembled to give both you and your partner on the other side of the board a chance to take out the technological terror. Each turn he’ll move from your side of the board to your friend’s, and you’ll need to play your cards just right to bring him down together. Watch out! If one of you is defeated, then you both are, so don’t be stingy with the heals.”

In terms of gameplay, players can be teamed up randomly with matchmaking or with a friend by queuing up together. As for the enemy itself, the Mechazod will be a 95-health minion and comes with 2 Attacks and a taunt. Players also need to look for his abilities that he cycles through, which are:

Assassinate – Destroy an enemy minion.
Bomb Salvo – Deal Attack Damage to up to 3 random targets.
Double Zap – Deal Attack Damage to both players.
Kill the Lorewalker – Destroy Lorewalker Cho.
Overclock – Gain 2 Attack.

When facing the Mechazod, the players will be given a pre-built deck with one player being a Paladin (a more offensive deck) while the other is a Priest (a more defensive deck). Teamwork is key in trying to take down the Mechazod and the lack of chat or communication might prove it to be a quite a hurdle for some. Regardless, win or lose, players will get a free card pack which includes “classic” cards as a reward for attempting the challenge.

The co-op is currently available for a limited time only on Tavern Brawl mode, which changes match types with custom mechanics every five days or so. Players that wants to participate in the Tavern Brawl mode will need to be at least one here that’s level 20.
