How Master Chief Became A Wanted Man In The Halo 5 Launch Trailer

Microsoft is making sure that everybody’s on board the Hype Train for Halo 5: Guardians by releasing a new gameplay Launch trailer, which is definitely a step in the right direction. Known for some of the best cinematics trailers in video games history, 343 Industries and Halo 5: Guardians doesn’t disappoint with the action-packed trailer, that’s made entirely out of in-game cutscenes and gameplay.

Though not much information about the story was revealed in the trailer, it does allude to the fact that Halo 5: Guardians will be “the greatest hunt in gaming history” as said by Microsoft and 343 Industries. The hunt is for none other than Master Chief, the titular hero for the last 4 iterations of the main Halo series.

In Halo 5: Guardians, Master Chief has gone rogue and tasked with capturing him are a band of four soldiers, that’s lead by Jameson Locke. Traveling across the hostile galaxy, it is up to Locke and his crew to bring back Master Chief and find out the reason for his disappearance.

Halo 5 Launch Trailer

What makes this trailer stand out from past Halo trailers are not the amazing graphics, fantastic voice acting (provided by the always entertaining Nathan Fillion and Mike Colter), and visceral gameplay. No, what makes this trailer different is the fact that the story actually makes senses and is easy to follow. Previous trailers from Halo often ends up being bogged down by all the sci-fi/political nonsense. In Halo 5: Guardians, the story is simple. Find Master Chief and bring him back.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Halo game without its awesome gameplay. And based on the footage from the trailer, players can expect some high-octane action, as they ski down a mountain while taking out enemies left and right. Or riding in a Warth-Hog as a bridge collapse, while fending off alien enemies.

Halo 5: Guardians is set for release on October 27th and will come exclusively to Xbox One.
