iPhone Was Never Safe To Begin With As US Unlocks Apple’s Device

Reports have indicated that law enforcements have found a way to unlock an iPhone without Apple’s help, effectively ending the long drawn out legal battle between the company and The Justice Department.

iPhone 7 Leaked Case

The iPhone in question is a key evidence in the San Bernardino, California shooting, whereby the device belonged to one of the shooters.

On Monday, the Justice Department released a two-paragraph filing stating that it had “now successfully accessed the data stored on Farook’s iPhone and therefore no longer requires the assistances from Apple.”

With the Justice Department’s ability to unlock the device, it raises the question of Apple’s security in the long run. Should the Justice Department release the method they used to unlock the iPhone to the public, it would force Apple to effectively change their iOS security structure to avoid having their products exploited by hackers.

iPhone SE reveal

News of the Justice Department ability to ‘unlock’ the phone could have an adverse effect on Apple’s sales, especially with the recently announced iPhone SE that is set to go on sale soon.

Would you still use or buy an iPhone knowing that there is a way for people to hack it without a password? Let us know in the comments.
