Believe it or not, there’s an honest-to-goodness actual Metal Gear game coming from Konami that’s not Pachinko related! Revealed exclusively by IGN, Metal Gear Survive is a “four-player stealth co-op game” that takes place in the Metal Gear universe.
IGN posted the first teaser trailer for the game, which is set to launch on PlayStaiton 4, Xbox One, and PC, sometime in 2017.
Konami European president, Tomotada Tashiro talks about the new game in a press statement they released along with the trailer. “Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series famed stealth elements,” he states, “but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multiplayer experience.”
The game is the first title of the stealth-action franchise from Konami that does not feature series creator Hideo Kojima. It takes place after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and features new characters that may or may not made appearances in the core Metal Gear games.
While it’s not exactly what fans hoped for with a new Metal Gear title, at least it’s an actual game rather than a Pachinko game. Metal Gear Survive is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with a 2017 release window.
