Nintendo Claims Leak Video of Nintendo Switch Was A Stolen Unit

NeoGAF user hiphoptherobot said he was “just lucky” that his retailer sent a pre-purchased Switch early to him on Thursday last week. Nintendo says that the unit was part of “an isolated event” of larceny by workers of a U.S. vendor, which it didn’t identify. One system was sold illegally.

The Nintendo Switch last week shown off in a NeoGAF post was stolen, Nintendo said in a statement to IGN.

“The individuals involved have been identified, terminated from their place of employment and are under investigation by local law enforcement authorities on criminal charges,” Nintendo said in its statement.

The leak of the console nevertheless provided some valuable info in advance of the launch. The Switch comes with 32 GB of internal storage, and uses 6.1 GB of that for the operating system and other attributes}. The NeoGAF user additionally showed off the console’s menu and a few of its own choices, but no games of the console.

Kotaku reported that GAF user had his Switch sent back to Nintendo as he wasn’t aware that was a stolen unit until after he’d posted videos and pictures of it being used.
