Radeon RX480 By AMD Is A VR Ready GPU At Only $199

The virtual reality market is burgeoning and AMD looks to jump ahead of the curb by releasing a budget-friendly GPU that’s capable of running VR. The Radeon RX480 is a VR ready video card that retails at a budget-friendly price of $199.

AMD Radeon Computex Conference

AMD unveiled the midrange card during the Computex 2016, where it was announced that RX480 will begin shipping on June 29. The RX480 is a fourth-generation GCN card and uses the Polaris 10 architecture. It will pack 2,304 GCN cores with a boost clock above 1.08GHz. It’s backed by a 256-bit memory bus and will be available in either 4GB or 8GB GDDR5 SKU.

While it won’t be outperforming the GTX 1070 or 1080 by Nvidia, the RX480 makes a compelling case for an affordable GPU that lets you play VR games and modern 3D games at only $199, compared to the huge price tag of $400 (approximately) and $1000 for the GTX 1070 and 1080 respectively.

if you’re looking to build your gaming rig that’s capable of running VR without having to fork out thousand of dollars for the GPU, then the Radeon RX480 looks to be an affordable choice.

AMD’s Radeon RX480 will ship on June 29 and is priced at $199.
