Rarest Pokémon Card Sold For $54,970 At Auction

Pokémon fans should take note of this, the rarest Pokémon Illustrator card that was only issued as a prize for CoroCoro Comic illustration contest back in the late 90s was auctioned off recently for a record breaking $54,970 at a public auction held by Heritage Auctions.

“The Pikachu Illustrator Card was given in January of 1998 to winners of the CoroCoro Comic Illustration Contest. “Only 20-39 copies of this card were released, ten of which are graded in top condition and it is unknown how many still remain with the public.” said Barry Sandoval, the director of operations for comics.

So go and check your Pokémon stash. If you have that card in mint condition, you could definitely sell it for more than $54,970.
