Shenmue III Kickstarter Backers Can Request For A Refund

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has announced on Twitter that the company will cover Kickstarter refunds for any crowdfunded games that partners up with Epic in future.

Shenmue 3 backers on Kickstarter were unhappy when the developers decided to go exclusive with Epic and sideline Valve’s Steam storefront. And to add salt to their wounds, the backers were also informed that they won’t be getting a Steam code at launch. For those who backed Shenmue III and wanted Steam keys have a few options though:-

1. Take the Epic Store key.
2. Take the Steam key one year after launch.
3. Change platform from PC to PlayStation.
4. Request for a refund.

Ys Net originally had planned for PC distribution through Steam but their coordination with the sales policies of the involved companies was untenable, and as a result they are not able to make a day one distribution option for Steam keys available.
