The New 4-inch iPhone SE Will Cost You $399

Apple unveiled a new line-up for the iPhone family with the entry level iPhone SE. The iPhone SE is currently the cheapest iPhone (among the current lineup) and retails at $399.

iPhone SE reveal

The iPhone SE reuses the iPhone 5S’s body but improved it with the iPhone 6s internals. There will be a 16GB model and a 64GB model retailing at $399 and $499 respectively. Pre-orders for the phone will open on March 24th with the iPhone SE expected to be on store shelves from March 31.

The 4-inch smartphone will pack an 1136 x 640 display resolution, 2GB of RAM, 12MP rear camera, an Apple A9 processor with 13 hours of battery expectancy.

While the iPhone SE might not be the ground-breaking new phone that most Apple users were expecting, the cheaper price of entry will put Apple in the market for affordable premium smartphones that companies such as Samsung and Xiaomi are dominating.

Despite going backwards in size with a 4-inch display, Apple’s Tim Cook believes that there are segments of smartphone users that prefer a smaller screen as opposed to the current 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 6s.
